Early detection changes everything in dentistry. The CamX Spectra gives you a non-invasive, radiation-free way to find decay earlier than traditional methods — and show patients exactly what's happening in their own mouth, in real time.
Using fluorescence technology, the Spectra's four violet LEDs stimulate the metabolic by-products found in cariogenic bacteria, causing them to glow red on screen while healthy enamel appears green. This colour-coded visual makes it immediately clear — to both clinician and patient — where decay is present and how extensive it is. A numerical indicator displays the extent of decay on a scale of 0 to 5, giving you a reliable, repeatable baseline for monitoring treatment progress over time. Decay hidden between the margins of existing composite and amalgam restorations — often missed entirely on X-rays — is also detectable with the Spectra.
The slim, ergonomic handpiece is comfortable to hold, with capture buttons on both sides for easy operation. The 8mm positioning spacer blocks stray ambient light and ensures the device is held at the correct height above the tooth surface for consistent, repeatable results.
Caries detection imaging is increasingly recognised for reimbursement by insurance companies. Compatible CDT codes D0601, D0602, and D0603 are available for caries risk assessment and documentation at low, moderate, and high risk levels.
